BLUE-EYED FRENCHIES: MYTH OR FACT?

We often see advertisements selling puppies that claim to offer blue Bulldogs with blue eyes. It is true that all blue Bulldogs have blue eyes as puppies, but none retain this eye color into adulthood. As they grow, their eye color changes and can become dark brown, light brown, or olive green.
The only Bulldogs that reliably keep blue or cerulean eyes as adults are lilac-colored ones. Even chocolate-colored Bulldogs usually have light-colored eyes as adults, which can be yellow or green. Merlé Bulldogs often have one or both eyes blue due to the depigmentation effect of the Merlé gene, which can affect the eyes as well as the coat.
So, if someone offers you a blue Bulldog with blue eyes, stay away—they are either incompetent or, worse, a fraudster.
